The Mystery of Tail-less Taz from Tennessee

There once was a dog who needed a home

A place in life he’d never known

He was found astray in Tennessee

And sent to a shelter where he got worms and fleas

He’s got only half a tail

and nobody knows why

but he seemed like a sweetheart

so they called him LittleGuy

Nobody wanted him in Tennessee

So he was sent up north to wait for me

By impulse and luck, we found each other

and now he’s called Tazo, just like the tea

We’ll never know why he has only half a tail

but it wags and it wiggles to show he cares

He’s a spunky pup with a puppy pounce

and I’m in love with every last ounce!

Snowy weather haiku

The plow just went by

My car is stuck in the snow

Oh f*ck that just blows

Nobody’s perfect

Perfection exists in the inanimate

the snowflake, the neverending math equation

as humans, we are flawed

and the tiny imperfections define our selves

but a plethora of this and a paucity of that

in two humans

can join to make a whole.

My mind

I think about you all the time

Can’t seem to get you off my mind

It reminds me of a movie line

about a girl he needs to find

I just may have to go and see

about the man who is haunting me.

Labor Day Misunderstood

Illusions broken

and there we stood

priorities in hand

with baggage of bad blood.

Each stubborn and defiant

Lonely and lost

Fearing the future

Disappointed in the past

    Why couldn’t it last

The beginning was too fast

the wounds grew too deep

new on old wounds

quickly exhausting

to much pressure to keep.

Turning to go

Not looking back

Numbly walking forward

Toward being alone.

Missing

I’m so scared

I can’t hurt anymore

I missed it in front of me

just for the open door

My tears they shed

with such wonderment

soft recognition of the times

that could have been.

Regrets

Life is too short

To dwell on the past

and worry about the future

to second guess the choices

and remember all the voices

that spoke lovingly at times

before distance grew

and the chasm of eternity

loomed in the air

unspoken but broken

without repair

In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on. Robert Frost
